Fresh Strawberry Bars
FRESH STRAWBERRIES
In the summer I recommend using fresh strawberries instead of strawberry jam for dessert bars. Adding some lemon and cornstarch to the fresh berries makes them set up perfectly.
The crust for these bars is an oatmeal crust with butter and egg. It's very easy to work with and a good base for any dessert bar.
Oatmeal Crust
Layer the strawberries in the crust and top with extra crumble. Then bake at 350˚F for about 40 minutes.
BAKING
When the bars come out of the oven and cool, remove them from the pan and glaze them with a simple powdered sugar glaze.
