This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Safeway and features their exclusive O Organics® and Open Nature® products. I shop for these products at my local Safeway Store! All opinions are 100% mine.
I’ve learned that I can basically tie the attitudes of my children to a few key inputs: sugar intake and protein intake.
Too much sugar and not enough protein and I can actually see my children devolve into nightmare beasts. But, a little protein boost mid-day is sometimes all it takes to bring them back to level.
This Easy Beef Jerky Snack Mix is jam-packed full of healthy fats and protein and is perfect for on-the-go snacking. I used O Organics® Beef Jerky for my snack mix which has a great flavor without being too salty or sweet – perfect for a snack mix. I also tossed in some Open Nature® Cheese Crisps! These are super crunchy and are SO perfect in a snack mix like this. Don’t skip them!
I bought all the ingredients for this snack mix at my local Safeway, and you can also find them exclusively at the Albertsons Companies family of stores, including ACME Markets, Jewel-Osco, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Shaw’s, Star Market, and United Supermarkets. Visit Safeway.com to find a store near you and discover meal prep tips and recipe ideas.
I like shopping at Safeway because I can count on them to provide high-quality snacks and ingredients for a great value. Their Open Nature line is filled with products free from 110 food additives, plus has plenty of gluten-free, high protein, and plant-based products and the O Organics line is entirely USDA certified organic while still being affordable.
Also, Safeway also offers Grocery Delivery and Drive Up & Go™ for convenient ways to shop. SO important and helpful right now!

Making the Snack Mix
This snack mix starts with a simple butter mix with some spices! Just melt the butter and stir everything together.
Chop up the beef jerky pieces into bite-sized pieces and stir together with the nuts and seeds.
Stir in the butter mix and stir to combine!
Then spread out the mixture on a baking sheet. I like to line the baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make for easier clean up.
Bake the snack mix at 300F for about 15 minutes.
When the mix comes out of the oven, stir in the cheese crisps! If you were to add them to the mix as it bakes, they will burn.
I love this mix of flavors and textures. Easy for grab and go snacks with a really high protein content!
As an aside, these Open Nature compostable bowls are awesome! If you compost, they are way better than your normal disposable bowls! I use them to serve all kinds of snacks!

Storing the snack mix
This snack mix stores fine in an air-tight container at room temperature for a few days. If I’m planning on keeping it longer than that, I’ll stick it in the fridge for longer storage.
Beat the low protein blues with this delicious snack mix!
